Personal Mission Statement

To make the world a happier place, I will help students build on their best qualities so they may be kind partners, intelligent citizens and responsible leaders.

Mrs. Leone's Philosophy of Education:

Although every person has different interests, drives, multiple intelligences and capabilities, it is imperative for the advancement of human society that all human resources be developed to their fullest potential. I believe that education in the names of and relationships between things and ideas is the single most important thing in a person’s life.  As an educator, I must be fully knowledgeable, plan engaging opportunities for exploration and study, and adjust my plans to fit the needs of my students.

In this age of high stakes testing, I still believe that teaching the Standard Course of Study and basic test-taking strategies will enable students to demonstrate their proficiency.  Although the year-end tests are essay, short answer and multiple choice, as we practice those answer formats, we can still use thematic and integrated  instruction to create a living context for information, linking it to prior knowledge and building a bridge to future understanding.

I know that I may very well teach a future President of these United States of America, and I intend to make sure s/he is an inspired, well-rounded, critical thinker who is capable of making rational decisions for the benefit of the world.
